1. A playoff appearance … ?

The Dallas Mavericks have a slight, and I mean slight, chance of making the playoffs in 2019-20. If Dallas truly lives up to its potential this season, they may snag an eighth seed.

With the Los Angeles Lakers and possibly the New Orleans Pelicans moving into playoff spots next year, the LA Clippers becoming a top-tier team and the Houston Rockets and Golden State Warriors still lingering, the Mavericks will have to fight very hard to make the playoffs.

The San Antonio Spurs and Oklahoma City Thunder may see a drop-off, but could still squash any hopes of playoffs games coming to Dallas. Not to mention the Utah Jazz and Denver Nuggets still being strong forces in the West.

Nevertheless, the Mavs will see improvement this year based on the amount of incoming talent and confidence. Regardless of the finish, 2019-20 will be even more promising than 2018-19 for the Mavericks.

The league has changed drastically since the end of the season and the Mavericks are a team that has definitely flown under the radar.

Fans recognize the talent of Luka Doncic and the promise of Kristaps Porzingis, but the other additions and improvements that don’t exactly demand headlines have still made Dallas a better team.
