Dallas Mavericks: 5 reasons to be optimistic
3. Boban Marjanovic. Enough said
Boban Marjanovic is returning to Texas— this time further north than his original NBA home in San Antonio.
Bobi signed a two-year, $7 million deal with the Dallas Mavericks and I do not think enough people are talking about this.
Marjanovic showed his excitement in joining the Mavericks and tweeted”
The 7’3” Serbian averaged 7.3 points, 4.6 rebounds and 0.5 blocks in 58 games in 2018-19. Salah Mejri was the only other true center on the roster last year and in fewer games posted similar stats.
This may not be a drastic change on paper, but Marjanovic’s presence will change multiple aspects of the Mavericks’ season
Having Marjanovic on the bench frees the Mavericks up to move pieces like Dwight Powell and Maxi Kleber around.
We can talk about his stats and his role in the lineup all day long, but Boban turns into an immediate fan favorite anywhere he goes.
It’s fair to say that Mavericks fans should be just as excited to have Marjanovic as he is to be in Dallas.
Marjanovic will still likely share center duties with a variety of players, but he will undoubtedly add some depth to the lineup and energy to the Dallas locker room.
