Orlando Magic: Markelle Fultz

While no longer garnering national media attention, Markelle Fultz‘s situation remains one of the most bizarre in NBA history. A highly anticipated No. 1 overall pick, he’s played sparingly in his two-year career with an injury few if any know the exact science of.

A trade from the Philadelphia 76ers was deemed necessary for a team that had sped up its process, and the Orlando Magic seemed like a great fit.

Not only could they use an upgrade at the point guard spot, but their place among the NBA’s hierarchy is as good a spot as any for Fultz to lay low and get his affairs in order.

Fultz wasn’t expected to play following the trade last season, but the same cannot be said for the 2019-20 campaign. He’s spent the better part of the last two years rehabbing, and there comes a time where it’s on him to make his way back to the court.

Skills don’t just vanish in an instant. All the hours put into the gym are locked away somewhere in his body, but nobody can seem to find them.

At this point, it’s not about living up to the expectations of a No. 1 overall pick. The NBA family simply wants to see one of its own dictate the future of his career on his terms.

They want to see him salvage as much as possible from a level of talent that seemed like a sure-fire thing coming out of college.
