3. Maurice Harkless

The acquisition of Maurice Harkless is a move that brings in another lengthy wing, with the ability to also play the stretch 4 position.

Unfortunately, it’s the stretching part that hasn’t been a very reliable part of his game. Posting .487/.275/.671 shooting splits for the 2018-19 season, gives you an example of what I’m referring to.

Harkless is an above average perimeter defender who moves well for his size. Intensity on the defensive end is his calling card and fits well the focus coach Doc Rivers has for the team.

Whether or not Harkless can turn around his perimeter shooting woes will play a large factor in how much playing time he is ultimately given.

With MVP finalist Paul George, having no definitive timetable for his LA Clippers debut, Harkless makes plenty of sense as a stop-gap solution until George returns. However, the overall versatility and defensive pedigree of rookie Terance Mann may prove to be a better fit for LA in the long run.

The Clippers may look to move Harkless and his expiring $11.5 million contract before the trade deadline, with the right offer.
