The San Antonio Spurs have their full 82-game schedule. There are some games that stick out for essential viewing in an exciting new season.

The NBA schedule was released earlier this week providing us a little salvation during this basketball wasteland that is early August. There are a plethora of games and stretches that will define this San Antonio Spurs season.

More from Hoops Habit

The full regular season schedule for the 2019-20 NBA season released on Monday afternoon. A few games including the Christmas day spread leaked the week prior. The full national TV schedule came out along with the game schedule.

The season begins on Oct. 22 with a TNT doubleheader. This marks another step in the offseason that is creeping closer to the start of the season. And the San Antonio Spurs have a few interesting matchups that fans should find intriguing.

How is it possible to look at an 82-game schedule and differ the games from each other? You have to anticipate the storylines, understand the history behind the matches and look for some nationally televised games, which are vital for teams that need to prove themselves.

Think about games that could boost a team’s confidence. Playoff rematches or player homecomings can make a game in mid-November can’t miss television.

For the Spurs, there are some obvious ones that stick out. A rematch against the Nuggets can prove to be pivotal. Anytime DeMar DeRozan goes back to Toronto or LaMarcus Aldridge plays in Portland is interesting.

What I look for in a schedule are games that came at a time in either a long road or home stretch or nationally televised games that put them in the spotlight. Any game that looks like it can test a team is intriguing.

There are also stretches with talented teams, west coast road trips that take teams out of their comfort zone, back-to-backs and big road games will add on to the pressures of a marathon season. Here are the top five games that will be essential viewing for any Spurs fan.
