Entering the final year of his contract, Jaylen Brown and the Boston Celtics have a decision to make before he enters restricted free agency.

Heading into his fourth year in the league, Jaylen Brown will be entering restricted free agency at the end of the upcoming NBA season unless he is re-signed to a rookie-scale extension before Oct. 21.

More from Hoops Habit

Drafted by the Boston Celtics as the third overall pick in 2016, Brown has shown potential as an athletic slasher, scorer, and defender during his time on the team although he has struggled for consistency.

Following the over-achievement of the 2017-18 season where both of the team’s star players missed the playoffs through injury, Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum and Terry Rozier led the line, taking the Celtics to the Eastern Conference Finals.

However, to begin last year Brown started slow eventually losing his place in the starting lineup as a result, coming off the bench Brown was much improved though.

This raised questions among the fans about Brown’s trajectory in the NBA, is he a starter who is working towards an All-Star level? Or is a bench role more suited to his skill set?.

The true answer lies between both of these questions, as the strength of a roster will dictate if he is starter caliber or not and he has the potential to be an All-Star if he can fulfill the early promise he has shown.

Leaving the Celtics with a tough decision heading into the season, they have three viable options now — each with benefits and drawbacks.
