Signing Shake Milton

On the eve of free agency, the Sixers signed Shake Milton to a four-year NBA contract. The No. 54 pick in 2018 played 20 games with the team on his two-way deal.

Milton has patently exceeded expectations thus far in his career. He averaged 24.9 points, 4.9 assists and 4.9 rebounds for the Delaware Blue Coats last season. Despite struggling for the majority of Summer League last month, his encouraging 3-point percentage (36.9) gives reason to believe he’ll be in competition for a backup guard role.

Given the glut of backcourt players currently on the roster, it’s not going to be an easy task for the former SMU product even under a standard deal.
