The San Antonio Spurs will be adding key pieces back to their rotation. How will they play their card in making the best possible lineups? It all centers around their non-star pieces.

The San Antonio Spurs finally have a complete roster. This season, they are going in with no major injuries or issues that could prevent them from making the best possible roster for any game scenario. How will the Spurs mix their roster, one that is diverse in talent and age?

More from Hoops Habit

It comes down to starters mixing well with each other and the bench providing quality minutes. Also, how will the closing lineup look?

Take a look at last year. LaMarcus Aldridge and DeMar DeRozan started every game they played in and Bryn Forbes started in all but one game. That one game was when Aldridge and DeRozan were inactive for load management.

Last year the opening day starting lineup consisted of Aldridge, DeRozan, Forbes, Rudy Gay and Jakob Poeltl. Yet this isn’t the best indicator of who will actually play the most together. The lineup that played the most collective minutes was Aldridge, DeRozan, Forbes, Gay and Derrick White.

Last year dealt with the issue of Dejounte Murray’s preseason injury. Now that he is healthy, there doesn’t seem to be a reason that Dejounte Murray will not start day one in October.

He has proven his worth in years prior, he is one of the most exciting young players in the league and he has what it takes to help facilitate the offense.

With Murray back in the lineup, the Spurs will shift DeRozan down to the small forward position. This means starting a backcourt of Murray and Bryn Forbes with Gay or Aldridge at the power forward and Poeltl at the center position. That is one of the many options they have.

Then you can have a little bit of fun moving players around.
