Kevin Durant spoke with Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports last night and spoke about why he won’t blame the Golden State Warriors’ medical staff for his injury.

Kevin Durant is not known to keep silent for so long, but he has his issues with the media for a legitimate reason; for the vast amount of false narratives that are reported and circulate the NBA world each season. But on Wednesday, KD finally broke his silence on the topic of the Golden State Warriors‘ medical staff mishandling his calf injury.

Here’s what he had to say to Chris Haynes:

"“Hell, no. How can you blame [the Warriors]? Hell, no. I heard the Warriors pressured me into getting back. Nobody never said a word to me during rehab as I was coming back. It was only me and [director of sports medicine and performance] Rick [Celebrini] working out every day.“Right when the series started, I targeted Game 5. Hell, nah. It just happened. It’s basketball. S— happens. Nobody was responsible for it. It was just the game. We just need to move on from that s— because I’m going to be back playing.”"

More from Hoops Habit

Nobody can be surprised at KD’s honest response, especially towards this particular situation that was heavily reported and criticized immediately after he suffered a ruptured right Achilles tendon in Game 5 of the NBA Finals.

KD won’t hold back and stay silent when he knows the media was wrong for questioning the integrity of the Warriors’ medical staff. After all, KD and the medical staff are the ones who know exactly what occurred in regards to how his injury was handled.

In order to make light of the situation, KD said that “it will be the last time they will be in the Finals”, when speaking about the Toronto Raptors and the fans who cheered when he got injured.

It’s great to see KD joking around and not allowing this topic to disrupt his mood. Besides, he has to focus on his health moving forward.

Final thoughts

The medical staff did an incredible job in ensuring the health of multiple stars over the last five seasons and their integrity should not be questioned.

Rupturing his right Achilles tendon during the NBA Finals and being down 3-1 to the Raptors will always be in KD’s mind as he now shifts his focus towards rehabbing and trying to return to the best form possible post-injury.

Next. Each NBA team's greatest coach ever. dark

What KD did on June 10 was show the world just how much the game of basketball means to him and how he is ready to lay everything on the line in order to compete on the biggest stage.
