Trade cash to Philadelphia 76ers for Jonathon Simmons and the 42nd pick

The Washington Wizards were not done after their first-round selection. Midway through the second round, a trade was announced between Washington and the Philadelphia 76ers centered around the 42nd pick.

This grade is based solely on the trade and not the pick behind it. The Sixers were trying to dump salary and gave up small forward Jonathon Simmons and the 42nd pick for cash considerations.

This year’s second round was filled with talented projects and players who can make an impact immediately. By grabbing a pick without giving much in return, Washington made an excellent move to get in on the action in the second round.

Taking on the salary of Jonathon Simmons did not hurt them at all because of the trades they made at last year’s deadline to bring them back under the tax level. They could either release Simmons or use him to fill a bench spot.
