Washington Wizards: Complete grades for the 2019 NBA offseason

Sign and trade Tomas Satoransky to Chicago Bulls
Tomas Satoransky was quietly one of the leaders of last year’s team. Though his season stats were not very impressive, the rest of the league took notice of his leadership. The Chicago Bulls in particular liked what they saw and offered up a three-year, $30 million contract.
The asking price was too much for the Washington Wizards, but they made the most of the deal and worked their way into a sign-and-trade instead of losing him outright. Though they received just a second rounder in return, they made out better than they could have.
While Satoransky’s ball security and passing ability will be greatly missed, locking up a guy who would not start on a playoff team for $10 million per year was not in the Wizards’ plans as they go into a mini-rebuild until the return of John Wall.
Overall, they made the most out of losing a key player from last season.
