2. Who will step up to replace Malcolm Brogdon?

It didn’t come by surprise, but Malcolm Brogdon signed a lucrative offer sheet with another team this offseason. Cash-strapped, the Milwaukee Bucks were unable to match that offer. On the bright side, a sign-and-trade with the Indiana Pacers netted the Bucks some draft capital. Not a bad consolation prize for parting with a player the franchise was likely to see leave anyway.

The eighth member of the NBA’s historic 50-40-90 club — shooting at least 50 percent from the field, 40 percent from 3-point range and 90 percent at the free-throw line — Brogdon’s production is difficult to replace with one singular player. Young pieces like Donte DiVincenzo and Sterling Brown will need to step up in 2019.

Jon Horst, the league’s reigning Executive of the Year, made a “bargain bin” transaction by bringing in Wesley Matthews on a two-year contract for the veteran’s minimum salary. A career 38.2 percent 3-point shooter, Matthews will likely slide into the starting lineup and play the sharpshooter role previously held by Brogdon. Knocking down 40.1 percent of his catch-and-shoot opportunities last season, the 32-year-old is a good fit in Budenholzer’s offense.

Another veteran’s minimum signing, Kyle Korver adds even more shooting depth to an already solid Milwaukee bench. The ninth-best 3-point shooter in NBA history in terms of percentage, the seasoned veteran can substitute in at either shooting guard or small forward. Will his production, along with that of Matthews and company, be enough to minimize the loss of Brogdon?
