Overall

Although the Houston Rockets entered the summer with countless questions surrounding how they would upgrade the roster, Daryl Morey and Houston’s front office staff found a way to do something they failed to do the previous summer.

Without having to make little to any drastic moves in the process, as the 46-year-old executive would pull off a hocus-pocus act to keep Clutch City’s key pieces aboard his war chest. In addition to making several quality upgrades at the same time.

In an offseason where league sources wondered if the Rockets would have enough to retain the services of Danuel House Jr. and Austin Rivers, Morey would surprisingly find a way to keep two of Houston’s most important role pieces from last season intact.

And do so without going significantly into their mid-level exception dollars, as the Rockets managed to successfully keep the majority of their rotation intact in an ever-evolving NBA universe.

Plus rise to acquire one of the game’s top stars in the process, as the pairing of Russell Westbrook alongside James Harden will instantly provide Houston with a new world order backcourt out in a now revamped and reloaded Western Conference.

Now, Rockets fans will wait to see exactly what comes next, as Morey could very well have yet another move up his sleeve prior to the start of training camp.

"“You know us, we’re never done,”  Morey said per Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle following Russell Westbrook’s introductory press conference last week at the Toyota Center."

Houston may not have landed the services of Danny Green or Jimmy Butler, much to the dismay of those residing in the Space City.

However, no one seek to can deny that the Rockets are still playing for keeps, as standing pat with the majority of their current core — alongside Westbrook and future wing additions — may prove to be all that was needed in what is now a wide-open league once again.
