4. Jordan Bell, PF/C

Optimism surrounds the Jordan Bell signing, but I’m more skeptical about how he will contribute to this team. At 6’9”, Bell is an undersized center; skills-wise, he can’t shoot at all and is not a strong rebounder.

Both of those jump out as major red flags for how he might fit alongside Karl-Anthony Towns.

Dario Saric was billed as the perfect fit next to KAT because he could shoot; Taj Gibson worked as a savvy vet who knew how to score in the post. Bell brings neither strength and despite his tutelage under Draymond Green, will never become a positive playmaker.

In his two years with the Warriors, he had a microscopic usage rate — 13.8 percent (understandable) — yet somehow managed to have an 18.3 percent turnover rate. Bell, who has had attitude issues thus far, seems like a guy who thinks he is much better than he actually is.

Regardless the Minnesota Timberwolves promised him an opportunity and both sides have harped on that:

Gersson Rosas gave a shout out to Bell during a recent interview, saying,

"“No I think Jordan is [not just a big] — defensively the guy can guard maybe all five positions, and offensively, something Ryan and I really value is we talk about multiple ball handlers, that doesn’t necessarily mean two point guards. It means whoever gets the defensive rebound can bust out and get into the open floor. You are going to see Jordan doing that and Karl doing that.”"

Bell’s ceiling remains intriguing if all the pieces come together, and with only KAT and Gorgui Dieng returning from last season’s frontcourt, there are minutes up for grab.

His athleticism and defensive versatility lend themselves to dreaming, but there’s a solid chance that his nonexistent offensive game and putrid rebounding get him benched during crunch time.
