Cleveland Cavaliers: 3 ways Collin Sexton can improve
By Tony Pesta
Collin Sexton had a promising rookie campaign for the Cleveland Cavaliers, but he still has room for improvement.
The Cleveland Cavaliers saw something special in Collin Sexton. Making the choice to select him with the No. 8 pick in the 2018 NBA Draft was a big one. At the time, they had not yet learned the fate of LeBron James‘ free agency decision.

This means they needed a rookie that could not only lead a potential rebuild but also play alongside James in another battle for an NBA championship.
Obviously, James announced his move to the Los Angeles Lakers shortly after free agency began. This left the Cavaliers feeling down, but not defeated. The franchise had high hopes for the speed-demon point guard that was Sexton.
However, it became clear very quickly that Sexton had a lot of work to do. He was thrown into the fire early, earning a starting position within 15 games. With very little help surrounding the 19-year-old, Sexton was left to figure the NBA out on his own.
The first few months were bumpy. Once opposing teams had a chance to acquire some film on the Young Bull, his go-to-moves were shut down. This forced Sexton into a constant need for adjustments.
Learning the game on the fly isn’t easy, but Sexton did a solid job. By the end of his rookie campaign, Sexton showed great improvements in multiple facets of his game. Averaging 16.2 points per game, Collin was named to the All-Rookie second-team.
Entering season two, Sexton will want to build further on his game. Today, we break down three things Sexton should look to improve on this season.
