C Tacko Fall, Undrafted

Coming into the 2019 NBA Draft, most saw Tacko Fall’s ridiculous size (7’7”, 310 pounds) and wingspan (8’2”) as a gimmick. Despite looking like a tree out on the hardwood, there was just no way that type of build could be functional and effective in the NBA, right?

Well, as it so happens, Fall isn’t as out of place in the pros as many assumed he would be.

During his time with the Boston Celtics’ Summer League squad, Fall was a pleasant surprise. He showed better movement and athleticism than was expected. His shot-blocking and rebounding prowess (based largely on size) were on full display.

He even put up two 12-point performances despite limited minutes — impressive, despite the fact that his scoring is exclusive to the restricted area.

Would No. 46 overall have been early for Fall? Probably. The general assumption was he wouldn’t be drafted, and no one was surprised when he didn’t hear his name called on the big day.

And yet, based on what we’ve seen up to this point, it’s not crazy to imagine him developing into at least a decent backup center.

It seems as though having an intriguing developmental center in 2019 would have been much more beneficial than having Horton-Tucker, who is battling a lingering injury and is buried on a backcourt depth chart.

Fall is a wild card, which is why he’s first on this list. Still, imagine the love the giant would get from the Lake Show faithful.
