Zion Williamson: Why signing with Jordan Brand makes sense
By Eliot Clough
Zion Williamson of the New Orleans Pelicans has decided the Jordan Brand will represent him for years to come. The pairing couldn’t have been more perfect.
Zion Williamson has been considered one of the most polarizing athletes of this generation, arguably the top NBA prospect since LeBron James. With the athlete hitting the market and searching for a sponsor, one could guess that the Duke product would have his pick of the mill.

Jordan Brand it is.
Williamson, coming off a season in which he sustained a knee injury due to the outside of a Nike shoe exploding, must have determined that a seven-year, $75 million dollar deal would be big enough olive branch to endorse the Nike-owned company.
Fielding the multitude of offers that were presented, Williamson chose Jordan over companies including Puma, Adidas, and several Chinese brands. It’s been rumored that one or multiple of these companies fielded a more lucrative offer than Jordan.
The first overall pick in this year’s NBA draft will join other NBA stars who dawn the Jordan Jumpman logo on a regular basis. Those include Jimmy Butler, Russell Westbrook, Chris Paul, and Blake Griffin.
Jordan also sponsors several major division one football programs, WNBA stars, MLB athletes, and more.
Here’s some of the reasons this signing makes total sense.
