3. Darius Garland

Much like any rookie, Darius Garland has a ton of work to do. Selected with the fifth overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, Garland is said to be the fourth-most talented player of his draft class behind the likes of Zion Williamson, Ja Morant and RJ Barrett.

However, is Garland skilled enough to justify drafting him after already drafting a point guard (Collin Sexton) in last year’s lottery? Well, we simply don’t know yet.

In his only collegiate season with Vanderbilt, Garland appeared in only five games before suffering a season-ending injury. Before the injury, he was averaging 16.2 points per game and had connected on 11-of-23 total attempts from deep.

His brief explosion on the court showed that Darius is a gifted offensive player with a killer handle and pure shooting ability.

Garland will have to show the world that this five game stretch wasn’t simply a fluke. Furthermore, he has to find a way to fit alongside Sexton. These two guards could play well off of each other if they make the proper adjustments.

On top of having the normal pressure of being a top five draft pick, Garland will have to prove himself to the portion of Cavs fans that are uncertain of his fit with the team. This will be a pressure filled season for Garland.
