Can Denver Nuggets’ guard Gary Harris rebound from an injury-riddled 2018-19 season and reach the two-way stardom he was on track to attain?

Last season left much to be desired for Denver Nuggets guard Gary Harris. After averaging 17.5 points per game on 48.5 shooting from the field in 2017-18, Harris’ scoring dropped nearly five points due to injuries that sidelined him 25 games.

From the Nuggets’ perspective, snagging the 2-seed in last year’s Western Conference was encouraging, especially considering Harris wasn’t at full strength. What if he returns to being their second-best player, as he was just two seasons ago?

Last year, Jamal Murray stole this role, becoming All-Star Nikola Jokic’s undisputed offensive wingman. Although Harris rebounded for a strong two-way showing in the postseason, he’ll almost certainly be the third offensive option this year.

Harris may sacrifice his stats, but the hit will likely be small, as athletic two-way stalwarts are always needed. He’ll see plenty of touches offensively while continuing to draw top defensive assignments nightly.

So what are Harris’ overall objectives for his 2019-20 campaign? Check out these projections, as we break down Harris’ upcoming season:

Stat Projections:

2019-20 projections: 15.6 points, 2.9 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.4 steals, 0.2 blocks per game, 46.2 field-goal percentage, 37.8 3-point percentage, 80.1 free-throw percentage

2018-19 stats: 12.9 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.0 steals, 0.3 blocks, 42.4 field-goal percentage, 33.9 3-points percentage, 79.9 free-throw percentage
