Acquiring the draft rights to Ignas Brazeikis

New York came into the 2019 NBA Draft with the No. 55 overall pick in the draft. They would not wait until No. 55 to make a selection, as they moved up to the No. 47 overall pick, trading with the Orlando Magic.

By trading up, the Knicks acquired Michigan forward Ignas Brazdeikis in exchange for Kyle Guy, who was selected No. 55 overall.

In his one season at Michigan, Brazdeikis led the team in scoring. In his first time wearing a Knicks jersey he did the same. The former Wolverine was arguably the best player in Las Vegas for New York, averaging 18 points per game.

His 3-point shooting was incredible, as he knocked down 11-of-19 attempts in the four official games (one game was called early for an earthquake)

Brazdeikis showed he was a capable playmaker, averaging 2.5 assists per game as well to go along with 5.6 rebounds.

Bradzeikis is a gamer and his personality will play well in New York. Fans will love his confidence on the court and the energy that he brings. While he may not have a spot in the rotation right away, he could force his way into some playing time if he performs as he did in Las Vegas.

Brazdeikis was a solid selection for New York given his 3-point shooting ability and toughness he brings. A lot of his time will be spent in the G League, but if the Knicks trade away veterans at the NBA Trade Deadline, he should receive a chance at playing time.

Grade: B+
