Reggie Bullock signing

The New York Knicks and Reggie Bullock originally agreed to a two-year, $21 million deal early on in free agency. That isn’t a horrible deal for a sharpshooting wing that can play some defense as well. However, that deal hit a snag after some medicals were done.

It was revealed that there were concerns around Bullock being ready to play at the beginning of the season. An unexpected medical issue arose and a new deal was worked, which allowed the team to sign Marcus Morris.

Bullock underwent surgery for a cervical disk herniation and the surgery was a success, according to a press release from the team. As a result, he agreed to a two-year, $8.2 million deal with the second year a team option.

While the injury was unfortunate, things worked out for the Knicks. They got the player they wanted for a fraction of the price. And that player is someone that will help them once he gets back on the court.

Bullock is a career 39.2 percent shooter from behind the 3-point line. Had he not been injured, there is a chance that Bullock could have begun the season in the starting five as a much-needed floor spacer.

While Bullock will certainly help on the court, his off-court work should also be mentioned as an LGBTQ activist following the death of his sister. Having quality people on the roster and in the organization can only help change the perception of the Knicks.

Grade: B+
