Spurs re-sign Rudy Gay

A move that didn’t shock anyone was re-signing power forward Rudy Gay. The veteran is staying in San Antonio for his third year with the organization. This was a key part of the beginning of the Spurs offseason. Gay played in 69 games, starting in 51 of them.

He has been a key piece of their roster the past few seasons.

Last season Gay posted stellar shooting splits of .504/.402/.816 in one of the most efficient seasons of his career. He is on a short two-year $32 million dollar contract, one that is beneficial for both parties.

It allows flexibility in the cap for the San Antonio Spurs, as well as giving Gay a pay day he deserves. Gay has brought himself into a new role, at once he was more of a scorer, but now he can do more around the court.

Playing with the starters or the bench, it doesn’t matter, Rudy Gay is at the point in his career where he can be a pivotal piece in any contending team. Come late in the season, the Spurs will be grateful they retained him.
