Milwaukee Bucks: 3 things Kyle Korver brings to the table
By Jordan Foote
1. Veteran leadership
On top of being a lethal shooter and having been on a team competing for a championship, Korver is a terrific locker room presence, positive influence and supportive teammate. In the twilight of his career, Korver’s role as a leader has never been more important.
All of this was on display during a postgame media session in April:
"“He is on a great path in the NBA. At the end of the day, this is just going to be part of his story, part of his journey. He’s just going to keep building on it.”"
If that doesn’t scream amazing teammate, nothing will. Nominated for the 2018-19 NBA Teammate of the Year award, Korver’s willingness to lead by example and help others improve did not go unnoticed. Donovan Mitchell had this to say about him earlier in the year:
"“He’s a great teammate, great guy, great guy off the floor. It’s really cool to have a guy in his 16th year who is so down to earth and so willing to give that advice.”"
Korver was more than willing to help Mitchell, who is a rising star in today’s NBA. Could he potentially work with Giannis Antetokounmpo on his jump shot? If the Greek Freak can become a more reliable shooter, he could go down as one of the greatest basketball players in the history of the NBA.
Korver may have something to do with that when it’s all said and done.
Even if he stays for just this season, having a player and person like Korver in the locker room and around the team will do wonders for the Bucks’ overall chemistry.
Every championship team needs a veteran who can bring out the best in his teammates. Kyle Korver is that player for the Milwaukee Bucks.
