The Atlanta Hawks have fully embraced a rebuild, and their 2019 offseason was indicative of this. Let’s take a look at what all these moves really mean.

The Atlanta Hawks have one of the most enviable young cores in the league. From Trae Young to Cam Reddish and everyone in between, they have a collection of young talent just waiting to break out.

This summer, they went all-in on the youth movement. The franchise even let go of Taurean Prince, who’s only 25, because they did not want to pay his next contract. The only Hawks earning over $10 million next season were salary dumps in the form of Chandler Parsons, Evan Turner, and Allen Crabbe.

Among many things, the Hawks have a ton of flexibility as a result of stripping down. The only contracts on the books past 2020 are rookie-scale contracts and Jabari Parker’s player option for $6.5 million, which he will likely decline when the time comes.

How the Hawks choose to use that money is likely dependent on how the 2019-20 season goes. In preparation for the upcoming season, Atlanta had an interesting theme going that will shape the future for the organization. Let’s dive right in and take a look at some of the takeaways from the summer
