Winner: Brooklyn Nets

Only a few years after their franchise-altering trade with the Boston Celtics, the Brooklyn Nets have drug themselves out of the dirt to sign not just one, but two superstar players.

Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving have been friends for a while, and now, they will team up together to help the Nets compete for their first NBA championship.

Durant and Irving are two of the most dynamic offensive players the league has ever seen and will surely be a tough duo for any team to stop.

In addition to KD and Kyrie, the Nets have signed DeAndre Jordan, an athletic center with great finishing ability and a talent for rim protection.

With other talented role players such as Caris LeVert, Jarrett Allen, Joe Harris and Spencer Dinwiddie, this squad will have a real shot at capturing a title within the next few seasons.

Loser: New York Knicks

As their little brother capitalizes on two max-signings this summer, the New York Knicks are back in the gutter. Not only did they fail to draw in any big-name free agents, but they lost the Zion Williamson sweepstakes as well.

The 2019 NBA Draft Lottery is just an example of bad luck. Despite having the highest odds to secure the No. 1 overall pick, the Knicks fell to third in the draft order. While R.J. Barrett is still a promising prospect, it stings to miss out on an opportunity to draft Zion.

Where the Knicks should really be kicking themselves is free agency. Playing in one of the biggest cities in the entire world, the Knicks have been unable to persuade any star players to join their franchise.

This can largely be blamed on how poor their team has been in recent years and how dysfunctional the front office has proven to be.

The Knicks have sat around and done nothing in recent years, hoping a star player would fall into their lap. Meanwhile, the Nets have worked relentlessly to build a competitive roster and it has paid off big time for them.
