NBA: 10 stars that could be on the move next
2. Devin Booker, Phoenix Suns
There is an old sports saying that “winning cures everything.”
If that’s the case, then Devin Booker must be really, really sick.
Since being drafted 13th overall by the Phoenix Suns in 2015 Booker has lost.
A lot.
In his four years in the NBA his team has a .265 winning percentage and has never won more than 24 games in a season. His Suns have finished dead last in the Western Conference every season of his career except for his first year, when they finished 14th out of 15.
Booker makes a ton of money — $158.2 million over the next five years, to be exact. As we’ve seen with numerous NBA players though, it isn’t always about the money and even if it is for Booker, he’s already secured the bag.
At some point he will want wins, playoff berths and on-court success. Phoenix has yet to offer him any semblance of that.
If that continues into next season — where the Suns have already started some questionable roster building and are on their third coach in three years — Booker may want to try and win elsewhere.
Teams across the league would line up for a chance to trade for the 22 year-old guard should he want out of Phoenix, but the Suns assuredly would not trade him unless he asked out.
If the Suns cant right the ship — and quickly — that may be a reality on the fast approaching horizon.
