3. Look to promote from within

As the Las Vegas summer league comes to a close, Miami should look to not only bring some of the players it had to its G-league affiliate Sioux Falls Skyforce, but also bring one up to the main roster.

The best candidate is guard Kendrick Nunn. The 6’3”, 23-year-old was Miami’s best player in Vegas, as he put up per game numbers of 21.0 points (team high), 6.3 assists (team high), 5.0 rebounds (tied for 3rd highest) and 1.5 steals (tied for 3rd highest) while shooting 55% from the field (2nd highest).

Nunn was clearly Miami’s best performer in Vegas, but there are some other players that deserve consideration for a roster spot. Duncan Robinson and Yante Maten, who were on 2-way contracts with Miami last year, put up some impressive performances. They’re both already familiar with Miami (and vice versa), so it would make sense for Miami to call them up to the roster full time.

Nunn, Robinson, and Maten all have contracts that aren’t fully guaranteed, so all the Heat would have to do in order to make them part of the roster is keep them. Each player gets more money if they aren’t waived by certain deadlines. All three balled out in the summer league, so it’ll be interesting to see who (if any) plays on the main roster.
