1. Jamal Crawford

Jamal Crawford is another journeyman who has been in the league since the dawn of time, and another veteran who can help out a young squad.

Coming off a season where the guard was able to put up 51 points in his final contest for the Phoenix Suns, Crawford can clearly still get buckets, even in a more limited role. Only averaging 18.9 minutes per game for the lowly Suns, Crawford has to be aware that he’s no longer one of the top reserves in the league. That doesn’t mean he’s no longer effective though.

Per 36 minutes in 2018-19, the 39-year-old scored 15.1 points and dished out 6.8 assists. Any team looking for depth or a veteran presence can still use his talent.

Specifically for the Pelicans, scoring in high volume hasn’t come easily for Brandon Ingram. One word can sum up the forward’s career: inconsistent.

With arguably the greatest sixth man of all time coming off the bench for the Pelicans, Crawford could have plenty of opportunity to compensate on the nights where shots just won’t fall for Ingram. On the year, Ingram only shot 33 percent from 3 and 67.5 percent from the free throw line — not ideal for a guy NOLA may have to lean on for scoring at times.

Not only will Crawford be able to step in on any given night and add 10-15 points to the box score, but this is another situation in which the Pels can add a veteran to a young roster. Both skinny, scoring guys, Crawford may have a thing or two to add to Ingram’s offensive arsenal.
