2019 NBA free agency: 5 potential landing spots for Kyle Korver
5. Minnesota Timberwolves
At first glance the Minnesota Timberwolves may not seem like an obvious candidate for Kyle Korver’s services. He is in high demand by contenders, and while the Timberwolves have reasons to hope they can be back in the playoffs next year, they are certainly not contenders.
Yet look a little deeper and some compelling reasons for Korver to consider the Timberwolves begin to emerge. First, this team should be better than it was a year ago, without the Jimmy Butler drama splintering the start of its season and with a healthy Robert Covington. This group reasonably expects to be a playoff team, even if the competition will be stiff.

In addition, the Wolves desperately need a player with Korver’s skill-set. The best shooter on the team may be center Karl-Anthony Towns, and many of the expected rotation pieces are middling-to-shaky from deep. Korver could step in and immediately give their offense a shot-in-the-arm.
Korver spent his teenage years living in Iowa, where he and his brothers share a number of state records. His parents still live in Pella, Iowa, where his father is the pastor of a prominent church in the area. He went to college in Omaha, Nebraska at Creighton University. Korver may value returning home, or as close as he can come while playing for an NBA team.
Living and playing in Minneapolis would bring Korver closer than any other team. The fanbase would also be familiar to the community he grew up in. Since Korver seems to be comfortable with both cold weather and smaller markets, the Timberwolves could be a solid landing spot if contending for a title is not high on his list of priorities, while also offering a chance to make more than the minimum.
