5. Boston Celtics

The Boston Celtics’ previous point guard duo went together like peanut butter and pickles. To put it more frankly, Kyrie Irving and Terry Rozier had little chemistry.

Both are gone as Boston welcomes in All-Star Kemba Walker. The one-for-two point guard swap leaves the Celtics seeking a backup ball-handler.

Marcus Smart can play point, but isn’t a reliable floor general. The hard-nosed combo guard specializes in locking opposing defenders and creating havoc, not commanding the floor. So Boston could use a true backup to Walker.

Livingston would fill that role with added bonuses. His height (6’7″) compensates for the undersized Walker. With the Warriors, Livingston was a change-of-pace point guard, bruising smaller opponents before Stephen Curry would re-enter and pepper them with 3-pointers. Livingston could play an identical role in Boston.

He could also mentor some of the younger Celtics, of which there are plenty, and he potentially comes at a reasonable cost — a major bonus on a team with multiple massive contracts on the books.

There are a number of reasons we could see Livingston in Celtics green next year.
