Detroit Pistons: 5 bargain bin targets in 2019 NBA free agency
3. Jonas Jerebko
Jonas Jerebko has bounced around the NBA a little bit since he started his career with the Pistons, but it could be time for a reunion for the two sides. He brings size and shooting on the wing with the ability to play some defense. He also has the ability to let them go small with Blake at the center spot without being completely out of place in the power forward spot. He showed that ability with the Golden State Warriors in the Finals just a month ago.
Jerebko has consistently improved during his time in the NBA, and it’s rather surprising that a team hasn’t signed him yet. He has playoff experience on good teams over the past four seasons, and he brings valuable assets to the table. Outside of one down season with the Boston Celtics, he has shot at least 36.0 percent from 3-point range in each of the past six seasons. Last year, the Pistons had one small forward shoot better than 29.0 percent, and they traded him away.
Jerebko had made around $5 million every season for the past seven years before he signed for just over $2 million last year. He built some value up with big shots during the Finals, but he still likely won’t cost a crazy amount of money to bring in. The Pistons desperately need shooting on the wing, and they could get that for their trade exception price at $2.5 million to fill out their wing depth.
