New York Knicks: 3 potential starting lineups in 2019-20
1. The “Best Of The Best” lineup
- PG: Dennis Smith Jr.
- SG: R.J. Barrett
- SF: Kevin Knox
- PF: Julius Randle
- C: Mitchell Robinson
And here it is. The best of the bunch. The crème de la crème.
Well, maybe it isn’t the crème de la crème that most Knicks fans had hoped for, but if life wishes to give the Knicks slightly rotten lemons, then Fizdale should make slightly acrimonious lemonade by using this lineup.
Still, this is not a bad starting five to have. Dennis Smith Jr. has already shown promising signs and could be set for a breakout year, now that he has found a permanent home in New York. He is a very exciting player to watch due to his insane athleticism and could potentially become an integral part of the squad, provided he increases his shooting percentages.
The team’s rookie, R.J. Barrett, has been one of the most talked-about prospects since his high school days. Last season at Duke, he proved to be worthy of the No. 3 pick, to say the least. His all-around game fits any team’s play style, which has excited Knicks fans for a long time.
The team’s major free agency signing, Julius Randle, will have very high expectations after having a breakout season during 2018-19. In a season where he averaged 21.4 points per game, Randle’s borderline All-Star level of play could take the next step as he becomes a top-tier NBA big man.

Bound to be the centerpiece of the team’s offense, Randle may take some time to adapt to playing with his new teammates, such as Kevin Knox, who proved to be very capable at scoring the basketball, though his shooting percentages desperately need that “sophomore jump”.
Overall, this looks like the best possible starting lineup for the Knicks in 2019-20.
