1. Acquiring Mike Conley Jr.

The biggest acquisition that the Jazz have made this offseason has been trading for star point guard Mike Conley Jr. from the Memphis Grizzlies.

The night prior to the 2019 NBA Draft, the Jazz and the Grizzlies completed a trade that sent the point guard to Utah in exchange for Grayson Allen, Kyle Korver, Jae Crowder and two draft picks, as first reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

On July 6, the trade became official, with teams finally able to announce the offseason acquisitions and moves that they have made leading up to that date.

The acquisition of Conley was something that has been on the radar for Utah stretching back to even a few seasons ago, but it was a nice surprise to Jazz fans after it finally happened.

Last season in Memphis, Conley — who will turn 32 years old in October — put together a career-best year, averaging a career-high 21.1 points, 6.4 assists, 3.4 rebounds and 1.3 steals in 33.5 minutes per game for the Grizzlies.

In Utah, Conley spearheads a point guard group — along with newly-signed backup guard Emmanual Mudiay — that will have a much different look than what the Jazz held in 2018-19.

Conley and Mudiay will replace Ricky Rubio and Raul Neto as the floor generals in Salt Lake City and will provide Utah with a pair of offensively talented point guards that have the ability to play solid defense as well.

The acquisition of Conley, even prior to all the other additions that have been made so far this offseason, pushed the Jazz to title contenders this season as well as a likely top-five team in the stacked Western Conference.

One thing is clear: Utah is serious about trying to win right now. All of its acquisitions so far this offseason, led by trading for Conley, have proven just that.
