3. Signing Jeff Green and Emmanuel Mudiay

Although Utah has made some notable changes within its starting lineup, the Jazz also continued to beef up their second unit early on in the offseason.

In the first few days of the month of July, ESPN‘s Adrian Wojnarowski first reported that veteran forward Jeff Green and point guard Emmanuel Mudiay both agreed to one-year contracts with the Jazz.

On July 2, Green reportedly agreed to a one-year deal worth about $2.6 million for the 2019-20 season.

About an hour after the Green news, Wojnarowski also reported that the Jazz signed Mudiay, who is still just 23 years old, to a one-year deal.

Green, a soon-to-be 33-year-old forward, is coming off of a nice season with the Washington Wizards in 2018-19, appearing in 77 games and starting in 44 of those games.

The veteran forward averaged 12.3 points (his highest mark since 2014-15), 4.0 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 27.2 minutes per game. He shot 47.5 percent from the field, 34.7 percent from 3 and 88.8 percent from the free throw line.

Green is still a very serviceable piece who will do a nice job in the second unit filling in for the starters. He’s a player that has the ability to still log a decent amount of minutes, while also having the ability to turn things up on the offensive end of the floor.

Mudiay, who will be entering his fifth NBA season this year, is coming off of a career year with the New York Knicks. In 59 games, he started in 42 and logged an average of 27.2 minutes a night for the Knicks.

Mudiay averaged a career-high 14.8 points, 3.9 assists, 3.3 rebounds and 0.7 steals per game in the Big Apple, shooting 44.6 percent from the field, 32.9 percent from 3 and 77.4 percent from the line.

The guard will have the responsibility now of backing up newly-acquired Mike Conley in the Jazz rotation, filling into a role that has seen a large overhaul in Utah already this offseason.
