5. Drafting Jarrell Brantley, Justin Wright-Foreman and Miye Oni

Entering the draft with only one selection, the No. 53 pick, Utah ended up making a few draft night trades to acquire both the No. 50 and No. 58 overall picks in the second round.

With those three picks, the Jazz ended up selecting forward Jarrell Brantley out of Charleston with the No. 50 pick, guard Justin Wright-Foreman out of Hofstra with the No. 53 pick and finally guard Miye Oni out of Yale with the No. 58 overall selection.

All three players aren’t expected to make much, if any, of a splash for Utah this season, but the trio could end up developing into nice pieces in Salt Lake City somewhere down the road.

Brantley, a 6’7″ forward, averaged 13.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 1.0 steals in two games during Salt Lake City Summer League action. So far in Las Vegas Summer League play, he has averaged 4.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.5 assists in two games.

Wright-Foreman, a 6’2″ guard, averaged 13 points, 3.5 assists and 1.5 steals in two games during Salt Lake City Summer League, while averaging 10.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.5 steals in two games in Las Vegas thus far.

Oni, a 6’6″ guard, also played in two games during Salt Lake City Summer League play, averaging 9.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.5 assists. He has averaged 12.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.0 blocks per game in Las Vegas in two appearances.

The three players were low-risk, cheap additions for Utah, but that doesn’t mean the Jazz won’t eventually be able to turn them into usable pieces for the future.
