Washington Wizards: A look at the 2019 Summer League roster

Justin Robinson, 6’2” PG, Virginia Tech
The Wizards reportedly agreed to a multi-year contract with Justin Robinson shortly after the NBA Draft. After watching him lead Virginia Tech for the past four years it’s easy to understand why.
Robinson is not the most athletic nor the quickest guard out there, but he runs a Hokies offense that was top 50 in field goal percentage and a defense that allowed the 11th fewest points per game to opponents.
He averaged more than 13 points and 5 rebounds in both his junior and senior seasons and would be a great point guard for the G League team until he is needed with the Wizards.
He also shoots the ball well from deep. In his college career, he shot 38.5 percent, including 41.8 percent in his injury-plagued senior year.
Tarik Phillip, 6’3” G, West Virginia
The day after the 2019-20 season ended, the Wizards signed Tarik Phillip to a multi-year contract after his season with the Memphis Hustle in the G League, where the 25-year-old averaged 14.1 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.8 assists in 29.7 minutes.
Phillip played in a hard-nosed system under Bob Huggins at West Virginia and then played his first season out of school in Hungary and Spain, without much success statistically.
Phillip is yet another deep threat on this Summer League roster. He shot 37.0 percent in college and 40.1 percent last season with the Hustle. He is a tough player who can score 1-on-1 and get to the hoop at will.
Since he is already signed to the NBA team he will compete for playing time at the guard positions with reported signees Ish Smith and Isaiah Thomas.
