4. Free agents

Troy Caupain, 6’3” G, Cincinnati

Troy Caupain went undrafted in 2017 after playing four years of college ball at Cincinnati.

He has transformed himself into a scorer and does a lot of different things for a team. In his senior year in college he averaged just 10.5 points per game, but collected 4.6 rebounds and 4.4 assists and made the NCAA Tournament all four years.

In two years in the G League he has averaged 16.0 points, 6.7 rebounds and 5.4 assists per game, earning himself a two-way deal with the Orlando Magic for 2018-19. However, he only played in four games and saw 16 minutes of action at the highest level.

He can score in a variety of ways and can shoot the ball well from deep. In an injury-prone backcourt, Caupain may be a good guy for the Wizards to keep in their back pocket.

Anzejs Pasecniks, 7’1” C, Herbalife Gran Canaria (Spain)

Anzejs Pasecniks is an interesting case. The Latvian was a first-round pick back in 2017 and after being traded on draft night, became one the Philadelphia 76ers overseas stash prospects. The Sixers never officially signed him and renounced his draft rights on July 1, making him a free agent.

His stats in 2018-19 were unimpressive, averaging 6.2 points and 3.3 rebounds in 15.5 minutes per game in Spain.

Pasecniks has absolutely no shooting touch and was just a 50.5 percent free throw shooter last season. However, he is still just 23 and displays a variety of post moves that are effective.

He moves very well for his size, runs the floor in transition and is a good screener and roll man in the pick-and-roll. The Wizards are hoping that it’s not quite time to give up on this first round pick.

Jeff Withey, 7’0” C, Kansas

Jeff Withey, a 29-year-old, was drafted with the ninth pick of the second round back in 2013 and has five years of NBA experience. He was a great college player at the University of Kansas but his days in the NBA seem to be numbered from here on out.

He played a few games overseas during 2018-19 and averaged 7.1 points and 3.7 rebounds in 17.7 minutes per game in Turkey and Greece. He still has no outside shot, but he remains an athletic rim-runner and shot blocker.

He could find a spot on a G League team this season with a strong showing this summer.
