Minnesota Timberwolves: 3 players for the team’s long-term core
By Ethan Becker
The Minnesota Timberwolves have been looking for their core players for a while now, and these three should definitely be around for the long haul.
Since 2014, the Minnesota Timberwolves have been in a constant state of shifting and changing. Players came and went, and there never really seemed to be a core group of players, except for the short while when they had Kevin Garnett, and all seemed to be right with Andrew Wiggins and Karl-Anthony Towns.
Now, after a fairly lackluster 2018 NBA Playoffs and no 2019 playoff appearance, the Wolves have entered the 2019 free agency period hoping to build around the young core that they have. With the right complementary pieces, and a little time for these three players to develop further, Minnesota could see a quick transformation from the team with the longest playoff drought in NBA history to a team that gets to play in late May and June every year.
For the first time in the past five years, the Timberwolves are no longer in complete rebuild mode, but are instead just looking for a few role players that will pair nicely with their three core members. But who are those core players?
