The Cleveland Cavaliers made a bold decision to draft another point guard. Here is why Collin Sexton should become the team’s sixth man.

Collin Sexton was a bright spot in an otherwise dark 2018-19 NBA season for the Cleveland Cavaliers. Selected with the No. 8 pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, Sexton became the first significant piece to the team’s rebuild.

Consequently, Sexton was thrown into the fire early on. A rough stretch to begin his career had many second-guessing the Cavaliers’ decision to start their rebuilding process with him. Once he was finally given an opportunity to enter the starting lineup, the Young Bull showed what he was capable of.

In his first 10 games as a starter, Sexton averaged 18.9 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game while connecting on 47.8 percent of his attempts from deep and 47.3 percent of all field goals. By the end of the season, Sexton earned his spot on the All-Rookie Second Team and finished fifth in the Rookie of the Year voting.

Sexton had a promising first year for Cleveland. However, this didn’t stop the franchise from drafting a potential star player in Darius Garland that plays the same position as Sexton. Because of this, players on the team and coaching staff are predicting Sexton will be best off playing as the sixth man this season. Today, we focus on three reasons why this is the correct move for the team.
