3. Plan accordingly for Ben Simmons

Over the course of two 50-plus win seasons, Ben Simmons has performed well beyond his contract. Rookie of the Year hardware on his mantle to go along with an All-Star selection this past season, it’s time for a big payday for the 6’10” Australia native.

Aside from missing his entire first season due to a fracture in his right foot, Simmons has been giving the Sixers their money’s worth, down to the last penny. He will only be 23 years old at the start of next season, and he’s averaged 16.4 points, 8.5 rebounds and 7.9 assists per game in 160 games played in his career.

Simmons reportedly could receive a max extension of $168.2 million over five seasons, which would begin in 2020-21.

If the Sixers want to dismiss all concerns about the future, then tying down Simmons as early as possible needs to be a prime task.
