2. Tomas Satoransky

For the Washington Wizards last season, Tomas Satoransky ran the point guard duties once John Wall was lost for the season. He wasn’t an all-star level of player, but he wasn’t bad either.

His size at 6’7″ allows him to see over most opposing defenders to cause mismatches, and he was an efficient scorer when he shot. His slash line was .485/.395/.819. Those numbers all represent an upgrade over the incumbent Smith.

Per 36 minutes, he averaged 11.8 points, 6.6 assists and 4.6 rebounds this past year. Those are respectable numbers, and they’re great to have off the bench, or he can start in the event that Jackson deals with injuries as he has for much of his career.

Satoransky has improved during each of his three seasons, and his Player Impact Plus/Minus (PIPM) scores were the best of his career last year.

Similar to Kleber, the biggest issue with signing Satoransky would be that he’s a restricted free agent, and the Wizards are expecting Wall to be out for most if not all of the 2019-20 season. For that reason alone, he could be tough to pry away, but crazier things have happened. If it rolls out Satoransky as its backup point guard for next season, it’d be a great move for Detroit.
