Cory Joseph: 3 year, $37 million (Sacramento Kings)

Once again, the Sacramento Kings continue with their summer trend of adding solid basketball players but slightly overpaying to do so.

Shelling out $12 million a season for a career backup like Cory Joseph doesn’t seem smart on paper, but the Kings had cap space to spare around this summer and between Trevor Ariza, Dewayne Dedmon now CoJo, Vlade Divac has done a solid job adding quality role players.

Joseph’s numbers will never leap off the page and he’s only a career 32.7 percent 3-point shooter, but he’s a capable defender and ball-handler who doesn’t make a lot of mistakes. The Kings needed an upgrade at point guard behind De’Aaron Fox, and despite the slight overpay, they got a good one here.

Grade: B-
