5. DeMarcus Cousins

Kicking off this list with a rather unfortunate rumor, lately it seems like DeMarcus Cousins to the New York Knicks could be a pretty realistic possibility.

Boogie is coming off a very serious Achilles injury that kept him sidelined for a large portion of the 2018-19 NBA season. After a rather disappointing Finals loss to the Toronto Raptors, Cousins could be looking for a permanent home elsewhere, with New York being one of his options.

Even though it is still uncertain whether he will ever return to his normal self, he’s still a top player in the league, talent-wise. Prior to the 2018-19 season, Cousins was coming off six consecutive seasons averaging at least 20 points and 10 rebounds per game.

Seeing the Knicks go after Cousins on the first day of free agency would be an extremely unrealistic scenario, but if they were to strike out on the major guys on the market, the arrival of Boogie would be more than possible.
