2019 NBA free agency: 5 potential landing spots for Malcolm Brogdon
By Jordan Foote
1. Milwaukee Bucks
This one is a no-brainer. Not only is Milwaukee a terrific fit for Brogdon, but he’s familiar with both his teammates and the atmosphere surrounding the team. The Bucks were two games away from the NBA Finals a year ago. The only teams that can say they were that close are the ones who actually made it to the championship series.
General manager Jon Horst is faced with a multitude of free agency decisions to make this offseason, and Brogdon is just one of them. Khris Middleton and Brook Lopez are also set to hit the open market. Talks about a supermax contract extension for franchise star Giannis Antetokounmpo will have to begin in the near future.
With that being said, Brogdon is too good and too young a piece to let go. If the team can afford to keep him, it needs to do so. Assuming he receives a four-year offer sheet from at least one team, Milwaukee would have the opportunity to match it and lock up the guard through his 30th birthday.
Even in the event Brogdon doesn’t receive a long contract offer from another team, the Bucks are a virtual lock to offer him one. Keeping the band together in an effort to pursue the franchise’s first championship since 1971 seems like the only viable option at this point. Brogdon is a huge part of that core.
Regardless of where he ends up this offseason, Malcolm Brogdon’s youth and efficient nature make him an intriguing option for just about any NBA team.
