2. Wayne Ellington

In keeping pace with the outside shooting theme, another player in the free agent pool who can fill it up from beyond the arc is Wayne Ellington. In 48 games with the Miami Heat and the Detroit Pistons, Ellington averaged 10.3 points a night while shooting 36.8 percent from 3-point range.

Did I also mention that he accomplished this even though over 81 percent of his attempts came from 3-point range? Another interesting tidbit worth noting is the fact that Ellington has shot at least 35 percent from deep in nine out of the 10 seasons he’s been in the league. In other words, if you leave this guy open, he’s going to make you pay more often than not.

The Lakers finished 21st in the league in made 3-point field goals last season with 10.3 per game and 29th in 3-point efficiency, converting just 33.3 percent of their attempts from downtown. Conversely, Ellington is a career 37.9 percent shooter from the land of 3.

Based on those numbers, Ellington would be a much-needed addition for a ball club that finished near the bottom of the league in 3-point shooting in 2018-19.
