2. Patrick Beverley

There’s no secret that there’s a common bond shared between Patrick Beverley and the city of Chicago. After all, he’s a Chi-Town native and former high school star in the city. The Bulls still need depth at point guard and Beverley would give the team exactly what they need as a feisty defender willing to take on anyone.

He’s even made strong overtures toward a Chicago homecoming, and in a vacuum it just makes sense. He’s been a better shooter than given credit for, knocking down 39.7 percent of his 3s last season and improving that figure to 43.3 percent during the playoffs.

All things being equal, it would seem that Beverley would have a good shot at becoming a member of the Chicago Bulls next season. Unfortunately, that’s not how it works in the NBA, especially when the earthquake that was the Anthony Davis trade torpedoed the beginning of the offseason.

Now, Beverley has more options, namely the Lakers and the Dallas Mavericks — two teams he’s been linked to. Both teams need exactly what the Bulls need, and might be a bit more desperate to spend above market value for the soon to be 31-year-old point guard.

Beverley to the Bulls would be a nice story, but the team would be wise not to overpay. After all, he may not even be their top target.
