Patrick McCaw (restricted)

How can the Raptors let Patrick McCaw walk? He’s the greatest winner in the NBA!

McCaw has been in the league for three seasons and put a trophy onto his mantle each of the last three years. As if being lucky enough to be acquired by the Golden State Warriors on draft night in the midst of their dynasty wasn’t enough, he managed to make his way out of Cleveland midseason to book a trip to Toronto and Titletown, USA.

The point guard’s role in Toronto was limited, as he alternated between being the third and fourth guard on the depth chart. He started just one game after arriving north of the border and averaged 4.4 minutes per game during the postseason.

His role as a good luck charm was more significant than his role on the court by a wide margin.

The Raptors did tender a qualifying offer to the restricted free agent on June 24, giving the team the ability to match any offer sheet for the point guard.

Spotrac pins the qualifying offer at about $1.88 million, which is not much money for an NBA team. McCaw won’t rise above the level of a third-string point guard over the next year, though.

If a team makes a strong offer to McCaw this summer, it’s probably best to let him walk and win a title elsewhere.

Verdict: Sell
