Cleveland Cavaliers: 10 potential targets in 2019 NBA free agency
By Tony Pesta
2. Ivica Zubac
One of the more promising seven-footers in the NBA, Ivica Zubac was traded by the Los Angeles Lakers in surprising fashion. The Los Angeles Clippers gladly took the 21-year-old center with the hopes of making him a key member to their young core.
Zubac became an interesting prospect last season after playing brief spurts with the Lakers. Despite often being overshadowed by the fiasco that occurred all season long, Zubac remained a consistent beacon of hope.
This is why it was so shocking when the Lakers shipped him away in return for Mike Muscala. Muscala didn’t add up to much, playing limited minutes and contributing very little. Meanwhile, Zubac shined even brighter, averaging 9.4 points and 7.7 rebounds in 20.2 minutes a night.
He would provide everything that the other big men on this list can, but he’s also much younger than his peers. With plenty of time to develop Zubac would become a major piece to the Cavaliers rebuild if the Clippers’ attention is elsewhere this summer and this restricted free agent slips through their fingers.
