2. Defense

A major issue for these two guards will be their lack of height. Both listed at 6’2″, Collin Sexton and Darius Garland are five inches shorter than the league average height of 6’7″.

Offensively, this duo might do damage. However, they will likely give up just as many points on defense as they produce on offense. A serious lack of height in the backcourt isn’t going to get them very far in a league dominated by offensively gifted guards.

This problem becomes even worse when you factor in that the Cavaliers do not have anyone to hide this duo on defense.

Teams such as the Toronto Raptors, Golden State Warriors and Boston Celtics are able to hide their poor defensive guards with talented wing players who can pick up the slack. In Cleveland’s case, they will not have a backup plan for Sexton or Garland.

The Cavaliers gave up the 24th most points per game last season. It’s only going to get worse when this duo plays against other elite guards. The only solution is to buff the defense with some wing players or trade away one of Sexton and Garland.
