No. 60 pick: Vanja Marinkovic

The Sacramento Kings’ final pick of the 2019 NBA Draft was acquired from the Milwaukee Bucks. The Kings decided to use it on foreign prospect, Vanja Marinkovic. Marinkovic is only 19 years old and incredibly raw. His shot is iffy, but if he is given a chance and applies himself to developing his game, he could become more than a member of their G League team.

With the very last pick in the draft, the Kings had to ensure that they didn’t choose someone that they could’ve gotten on the undrafted market.

Some noticeable undrafted players that they could’ve selected instead include Naz Reid from Louisiana State, Luguentz Dort of Arizona State, Jontay Porter from Missouri, Louis King from Oregon, Tacko Fall of Central Florida, Shamorie Ponds of St. John’s, Sagaba Konate from West Virginia and Justin Robinson. Those options may be safer, but considering Marinkovic’s age and body, he has a much higher potential.

It is almost impossible to tell if this is a good draft pick. No one knows how Marinkovic will turn out or if the undrafted players will out perform him. The reason this grade is where it’s at is because he was not the best player available. Marinkovic was a gamble, and would probably have been around for a while on the undrafted market.
